I was browsing through my emails when I came across one from my new current obsession 'Beyond Retro' Asking if i would take the #WeekinVintage challenge,  .....Of course i immediately accepted! Shamefully i have no vintage clothes in my wardrobe (Naughty me, slaps wrist) but its something I've wanted to try out for awhile now, I've always been one for bringing a new life to my clothing and i like to wear it in as many styles as i can to get my money worth! So i couldn't be more excited for this challenge.
I'm definitely some what of a virgin when it comes to vintage styling but after a few weeks of working with Naomi from twoshoesonepair I felt as if I picked up enough tips and plenty of inspiration to try it out for myself.
Naively vintage fashion always conjured up the image of garish jumpers and neon tracksuits in my mind but how wrong was I! I couldn't believe how many beautiful and one off items I came across at the Beyond Retro Chesire street store and for great prices! And not to mention its a much more ethical way of shopping and you can bag yourself a cheeky one off, its a win win!

So here it is, my first day of  being a fully fledged vintage chick!

DAY 1

I initially loved the cut of this dress with its front completely buttoned, I've been after a dress just like it for awhile but haven't had much luck on the highstreet, when I had seen it it had been either sold out or way over priced. Putting on the dress felt strange at first as I'm not used to wearing much of a print and the dress didn't have much shape to it, but after teaming it up with a skinny belt and my beloved black boots it felt much more like my style and I felt so comfortable in it.
But I guess that's like anything you purchase, vintage or not, you can alter anything to fit your own personal tastes whether that means adding a belt, re hemming something or taking it in, the possibilities are endless of the alterations you can make.

I cant get enough of the denim jacket, the intricate suede detail is what caught my eye in the first place, definitely love at first sight! The sleeves where a tiny bit too short but i actually prefer it that way, as when you wear a jumper underneath the cuff can show and then when your not you can just roll them up slightly to create a grungy effect.

I felt ready for a music festival in this get up, but unfortunately as its only March I had to make do with a stroll in the countryside with the boy, luckily the whether today was gorgeous!  And we come across some beautiful sights including this old ruin. My whole outfit was incredibly comfortable and has to be one of my favorite outfit posts I've ever done. But one of the buttons has fallen off, luckily this is where my fashion degree comes in handy..

I have to say wearing all vintage for a day has been a massive eye opener for me, why on earth haven't I worn it before! I can honestly say i have never received as many compliments than I have today, including some from the boy,  who doesn't usually notice me wearing new things!

What are your views on vintage clothing, is it something you already wear or you would you consider incorporating it into your current style?
