Exante Diet Pizza: The Healthy Pizza Alternative
Hurrah. Finally something a little healthier. 
I've been trying (given yesterdays post obviously not hard enough), to lose a few Christmas pounds - yep I'm still hanging onto them, or more accurately there still hanging onto me... 

So when i was told there was a way to enjoy my favorite high carb foods but without the guilt i just had to give it ago. 
Que the *healthy high protein Pizza base from the Exante diet which boasts to be all the joy of a pizza but without the calories, coming in at only 200 kcal. Now i can't tell you much about the workings of the diet itself, from what I've briefly read its a calorie counting scheme with different size portion ratios blah blah blah..  

What i'm really interested in is how can i enjoy my favorite foods but without feeling heavy and groggy afterwards. The pizza dough itself comes in a packet, all you have to do is mix in the water, spread onto a tray with parchment paper and bake for 13 minutes. Simple.

Once it's baked and has turned a crispy golden shade heat up the herby sauce and spoon it on top - then its ready to consume or you can add some toppings like i did and return it to the oven for a further 5 minutes.

Topping Suggestions 

Green peppers & Spinach
Mushrooms & Chicken
Tomato & Basil & Olives
Chicken & Onions

Once its out of the oven the packet states 'must be consumed within 10 minutes' i couldn't help but giggle at this. Whats going to happen after the 10 minutes? Are the pizza bandits going to attack? Surely to lose weight its better to eat slower? I might rebel next time and see what happens - if you don't hear from me then call Exante. 

The Verdict 

I was suprised just how nice this pizza was, yes its not the same as your takeaway favourites (I'm looking at you dominos mmm). But it is a good healthy alternative, the pizzas are relatively small about one pizza per person. With a thin crispy base so i can see how that makes it a lower calorie pizza. 
The taste was surprisingly good. I was expecting not to enjoy it much - being a massive pizza fan, but i'd definitely have it again. It doesn't have any bizarre after-taste that some replacement meals have. I was full but not feeling bloated and happily satisfied after one pizza.
