I'd be lying if I told you I haven't been flying the banner for Maurice the whole time.

There's nothing like a under dog story with a fairytale ending - and boy has Maurice got his. Maurice has battled with criticism throughout his time as a designer, often faced with the message that his work is just 'too old fashioned'. In a era where clean lines and minimalism rules - its safe to say Maurice's work with his classical Edwardian touch sticks out like a sore thumb and you know what? I'm glad it does.

Maurice Says:

As a designer I love to tell a story with my clothes and design work. I love to look in to the past for inspiration, I love researching what people used to wear seeing as its all evolution of the fashion that we have today, and I respect that.

Though I love to look into the past for inspiration, inspiration is all around me, be it in the past present or future. I love to surround myself in inspiration so I consider my living style like a Victorian with knick- knacks all around me; I am a soul of the past living in the present.

I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead now i’ve graduated. I’m looking to venture into the world of costume design be that theatre or film. Although the fashion world will always be in my heart - the dream would be to work in couture (The House Of Dior would do nicely!)

Its hard not to reminisce of the good old days when viewing Maurice’s work. You can tell he has an eye for the smaller details and takes great pride in demonstrating his highly crafted hand sewing skills.

The collection was a blend between all things Edwardian and china doll chic, the unusal textures and fabrics made this debut stand out from the crowd and earned him a place at this years Graduate Fashion Week.
