Quick little disclaimer, obviously these images are staged I don't bother to find matching pyjamas let alone a matching pair of eyelashes to wear for bedtime but I was off out after I took these photos so just made do a left the makeup on, you know the dealio.

Don't let this well brushed up exterior (well minus the patchy barnet) fool you, sleep time has always been a bit of a tricky subject for me I even wrote a post about how to beat night-time woes back in February. I've been a bit of a insomniac ever since my teenage years and believe me I don't say that lightly, for some reason as soon as my weary head hits a pillow my brain just goes into overdrive and suddenly I'm wide awake, so I'm always on the look out for things to help me get some much needed beauty sleep - and the way my skins looking lately I'd say I need it more than ever!

I've tried numerous things to help me drift off, from bed sprays to counting sheep.  I'd say I've become a bit of nap-time master I know all the tips and tricks, just haven't quite nailed the execution yet, so when John Lewis emailed and asked if I fancied being their Guinea pig naturally I jumped at the chance.

Neom Lavander Candle Review
John Lewis Sleep Sanctuary

John Lewis sent me a rather generous bundle of goodies all based on my sleeping habits, which included; a Lavender scented Neom candle, a Lumi alarm clock, a bed throw, Egyptian cotton bed sheets and duck feather pillows and a duvet - safe to say I was more than a little spoiled, you could imagine my face when I opened them all, I don't know who was happier myself or my fiancee! I popped them all on my bedroom and instantly felt like the Queen of Sheba, my bedroom has never felt more luxurious, my other duvet went straight to the back of the cupboard 'soz duvet'.

The Neom candle is beautifully scented with Lavender, back in the day I would have turned my nose up at Lavender drawing comparisons between the flower and my nan's bathroom but lately whilst having stupidly long days at university I've appreciated coming home to the calming floral scent, if I light the candle for an hour it smells my house out for the rest of the day which is really soothing come bed time.

The bed sheets and bed set have also been god sends to sink into after a long day, I spent a small fortune on my mattress, which broke my heart, in a bid to aid my sleep but always neglected my duvets and pillows making do with what ever cheap set I could get my hands on,  now I've tried these I'm never going back, if i had a bible near by I'd swear on it! This set makes me feel like I've spent a fancy night in a 5* hotel. Joe also approves after he comes home from nights he falls instantly asleep on this set, honestly it's like sleeping on a cloud - one I'm never quite ready to leave come 7am.

Lumi Alarm Clock Review
Lumi Alarm Clock Review

The Lumi alarm clock was a really interesting device I've been keen to try, I've looked into it before as its meant to help with SAD seasonal affective disorder, which is caused by lack of sunshine in the colder months. The clock is supposed to help you fall asleep naturally with a sunset setting which gradually dims the light and wake you up feeling refreshed with a sunrise and a gentle alarm chime, I chose the bird setting, which made me feel like I was Cinderella getting woken up by birds in the morning, unfortunately it didn't make me resemble her... I've tried it for a few mornings now and it's been lovely falling asleep to a sunset, I'm must admit at almost 23 I'm still a little weary of the dark so when Joe's away working it's been reassuring to have a dimmed light in my bedroom. Waking up to a sunrise has been really relaxing, It's a lot gentler than my usual iPhone alarm blaring in my ear in the morning. If your not a morning person I really recommend giving this a go!

These little extras have really helped me transform my bedroom into a haven to retreat to in the evenings, the duck egg throw is a really nice finishing touch and has bought a little bit of colour to my grey-scale bedroom, it's a place I look forward to venturing into... confession, its 23:44 whilst I'm writing this and I'm rushing as I can't wait to hop into bed!
